As of July 1, 2013, our brokerage took over the Medical Reimbursement Program for the branch offices located in seven counties. We provide reimbursement checks for eligible Oregon Health Plan Plus clients asking for mileage, meals, and lodging reimbursement(s) when medically necessary. Clients must make their request prior to their appointment. Upon completion of their appointment, the clients must send a signed verification form from their doctor, clinic or facility they attended as proof for reimbursement to happen. Once verification is received, we process a reimbursement check within 14 to 30 days.
Mid-Columbia Medical Transportation Brokerage provides medical transportation for Oregon Health Plan Plus clients in seven counties; Hood River, Wasco, Sherman, Gilliam, Wheeler, Morrow and Umatilla.
This service is provided when clients phone our call center and set up transportation through our brokerage. The brokerage takes into consideration the transportation needs of the client. The brokerage contacts independent licensed providers who use their own vehicles. These providers pick clients up, take them to their destination, and return them home after their appointment.
In addition to independent providers, we use DHS Volunteer Drivers, screened by the State of Oregon, to transport clients. These drivers are reimbursed for taking clients in their own vehicles to and from medically necessary appointments. Currently we use 13 volunteer drivers located in the following cities:
When MCCOG took over the Medical Reimbursement Program on July 1, we knew it would be a work in progress. The reimbursement process is still being refined, with updates going out to Oregon Health Plan Plus clients as they occur. We have maintained our goal to make the transition as smooth and efficient as possible and are working hard on implementing policies to clear up longstanding issues that we have identified.
We partner with The Link Public Transportation which provides door-to-door bus service for members of the community in Wasco County. Bus service is provided between the hours of 7:30 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. For a reasonable fare, we link people to appointments, shopping, and other activities that passengers are otherwise unable to reach on their own.
From July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013, The Link Public Transportation provided 23,043 rides in Wasco County. The majority of these rides were within in The Dalles. Special considerations for medical services allow transportation to or from outlying areas. Our team of dedicated, licensed, professional drivers transported an average of 1,920 riders each month during this particular calendar year.
